News: Transformers Fall of Cybertron Announced

Over at GameInformer they’ve revealed that following on from the successful War for Cybertron made by High Moon studios they’ll be another game in the series; entitled Fall of Cybetron. Whilst there’s a lot of positive comments about this announcement, people seem to have forgotten that High Moon also helmed the latest film tie-in Transformers game, Dark of the Moon (which was pretty horrid to be fair). That said, we are glad that High Moon are being given more of a free reign again. The game will be released at the end of next year.

Kotobukiya have announced three new sets of Armored Core weapon kits, the first of which will be the HLR01-CANOPUS (which you can pre-order here). This weapon was sort of the spiritual successor to the Karasawa in both AC4 and ACFA. In addition to the Canopus, the CG-R500 and EB-R500 as well as the beefy OIGAMI.

4Gamer has a piece on the console port of Gundam Extreme Versus and its all new game modes. From a new “Trial Mission” setup, where you can clearly face off against Crux Dogatie in the skeletal EMA-10 Divinidad (shown above). In addition, the limited release XM-X1 (F97) Crossbone Gundam X-1 Kai Kai “Skull Heart” in the arcade edition appears to be a fully accessible unit in the console port (as also shown above). Following on from that there are two confirmed PS3 exclusive mobile suits in the game, that of the GN-002 Gundam Dynames and the MBF-P03 Gundam Astray Blue Frame 2nd L. You can still pre-order the game here.

News: Karasawa and Moonlight now in Armored Core V

In a piece over at Famitsu, it’s finally been shown that both the Karasawa laser rifle and Moonlight laser sword are present in the upcoming Armored Core V. The Karasawa is a long-standing series tradition, named after Yasuyoshi Karasawa who acted as producer on the first three PSone games. This version is slightly different though as it has a charge shot setup. As for the Moonlight, it has been present in every From Software game to date, after it originated in the first ever King’s Field. The new Moonlight also has a nice crescent shape too, which is pretty cool. Separately, there’s a picture of a new massive mecha called “TypeD No.5”, which appears to be a tad Arms Fort-esque. Historically both the Karasawa and Moonlight have been hidden unlocks but it’s nice to know that they are present and correct in the new game though.

In addition to a lovely JAM Project concert at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, 2nd Super Robot Wars OG also received a new promo that was also displayed at the show. Showing more units and their animations, it’s looking very lovely. The use of the camera pans and elements of perspective are still suitably impressive. You can pre-order the game here.

Gigazine has a lovely piece on From Software’s recent Game Festa 2011. Considering neither Dark Souls or Armored Core V were present at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, From Software decided to hold their own event in a nearby hotel to Makuhari Messe. Amongst the various events and hands on demos, a new record label was also announced with a new Armored Core album performed by an in-studio band set for release this November. However, the most important piece of information released at the event was the finalised (Japanese) release date for Armored Core V, which is now January 26th.

News: Zone of the Enders HD Collection to receive new anime footage

In a recent event at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima got up on stage to tell the amassed throng that the forthcoming Zone of the Enders HD collections will be receiving new anime footage (as done by Sunrise). Amounting to an additional 4 minutes or so, it’s not clear whether this will be solely present in Anubis or a re-make of the CG animation from the first game. More interestingly though is the fact that a sequel to Anubis may finally be on the cards, they even finally admitted that a sequel had already been attempted a while back but was dropped. The obvious thing about all these renewed ZOE products, from toys to game remakes, is that it’s a clear attempt at marketing foreplay to hype the series back up again. The reason behind this is that, in reality, the ZOE games have never sold well and Konami need more than just a tiny vocal fanbase to bank roll what will end up being a hefty budget for any kind of modern sequel on PS3 or 360.

News: Cyberbots on PSN

The classic Capcom mecha based2D beat-em-up Cyberbots has finally hit the PlayStation Network yesterday in the game archives, at the very reasonable sum of $5.99. This then is the PSone version, though it can also be run on your PSP to along with your PS3. This game was the pseudo follow on to Armored Warriors and in turn fed into Kikaioh, the latter even had the Blodia II from Cyberbots as an unlockable unit within the game. We have lots of fond memories for Cyberbots and to have it on PSN is nice, though as yet whilst it is available in North America there is no news of a European (PAL) release.

What with Gundam Extreme Versus now finally on its way to a PlayStation 3 release, 4Gamer have done a breakdown on the game as well as a nice nod to the previous 10 years of Gundam Vs games. Bar the obvious “avoid getting shot in the face” advice, most of what is being discussed is stuff we already know (no new detail on the new modes as yet unfortunately). However, there is a shot of the Unicorn Gundam displaying green psycho frame innards. This is rather interesting, as it intimates the Full Armor variant might be present in the game after all. Lots of new shots too, so it’s clear the console port will clearly look spot on. There is now also a specific site for the console version too and you can pre-order the game here.

News: Gundam Extreme Versus to finally receive PS3 port

In the latest edition of Famitsu, it’s been announced that Gundam Extreme Versus will finally receive a port to the PlayStation 3. This is something that has been expected for a while, as the arcade game uses the System 357 board (basically a PS3 in a box). Shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, the arcade versions will also be present as they plan to host a tournament too. The PS3 version will contain all the units in the current arcade game and feature the latest version released towards the end of this year. The game will also have full online multiplayer and the team at Capcom are working to ensure that the final version will be as near to “lag free” as humanly possible. The port will also have new features over the arcade version too, with what sounds like custom soundtracks as well as original game modes. The latter will most likely be a form of mission setup as per the other Gundam Versus games. The PS3 port is currently at 70% completion and set for release in Japan on December 1st for 8,380 yen. As this will be a PS3 game, it’s also worth re-iterating that it will be region free, so there’s no need to hang around come the game’s release.
