News: Ex-S Gundam confirmed for Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost

After much speculation, the Ex-S Gundam from Gundam Sentinel will finally be coming to the PS3 version Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost as free first pressing DLC. Similar to how the Hi-Nu Gundam was a first pressing DLC unit for the home version of Gundam Extreme Versus, players who purchase the game within a certain time frame will get a special code in their copy to download the unit from the PSN. Players who download the game from PSN will more than likely get the code included in their download list, similar to how other games with similar incentives appear on the PSN download list when purchased. If you happen to not get a first pressing copy, don’t fret. If history repeats itself, the Ex-S Gundam DLC might eventually show up available as a free download in the upcoming months similar to how Hi-Nu Gundam DLC showed up as a free download with the first set of DLC packs for Gundam Extreme Versus. It will be interesting to see what kind of gameplay Ex-S Gundam will bring to the roster as it appears to be a transformable suit as well! Another neat update is that the Full Boost Mission Mode (which was originally called Trial Mode in the prequel) will be online enabled. So if you’re having trouble with a particular mission, you can bring along a PSN buddy for the ride. We will update you with more information on the unit and other DLC details as they come.

We now have the third promo for Super Robot Wars OG Infinite Battle. This covers the various game modes and shows off the likes of Daisanger, which is a very welcome addition. We’re still not sold on this game, partly because of what it looks like but more down to how the core mechanics seem to be playing out. Once it’s out at the end of this month we’ll be able to appraise it more accurately. You can pre-order the game here.

Now that this year’s Tamashii Nation event is underway we’ve had all manner of reveals, many of which are pretty surprising. First off is the confirmation of the DX Chogokin YF-30 Chronos (shown above) from Macross 30 and it looks rather magnificent indeed. Following that we have the re-appearance of the 1/35 scale RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. Ka that’s part of the Gundam Fix Figuration range. This last appeared back in 2009 and many thought that it was dead and buried. No word on price or release date but expect the former to be a pretty long figure. After that there’s the Soul of Chogokin Gaogaigar, whether this will do the much loved Final Fusion gattai sequence is unclear but likely considering the history of the toy line. After that there are all manner of new Robot Damashii figures, from the aforementioned Skullheart, to the Zwarth and even the Kshatriya. Though the real surprise is the Geminass from the Wing sidestory G-Unit. Even the Virsago Chest Break from the latter half of Gundam X is on the way. A special mention also needs to go to the new Hello Kitty chogokin, as after 40 years she will finally get her own mecha. Shown no mercy Kitty-chan! If you want to browse the rest of the show’s coverage then you can do that here, here, here and here.

The Premium G Sound Edition of Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost for the PS3 has been confirmed to be on the Japanese PlayStation Network. If you are unaware of what this limited edition entails, it will include over 30 tracks that are not included in the base version of the game, to include several ones that were originally included in Gundam Extreme Versus. There have been questions regarding its availability outside of the recent retail date confirmation of 30th January next year, but you can now grab it day one if you don’t mind forgoing a physical copy. The limited edition will also only be available until April 2014, so if you really want the extra tracks not included in the normal version, be sure to grab either the physical or digital version before then. The Premium G Sound edition will be available on the Japanese PlayStation Network for 10,980 yen. You can also see a current full listing of what songs are available in the limited edition here. As of now, there are no additional units or game modes in the limited edition, but we will update you with more information as it comes. If you prefer a physical copy then you can pre-order the normal and Premium G Sound Edition accordingly.

Videos: Shin Gundam Musou Gameplay Promos

Gundam-musou-for-ps3-ps-vita-2-948x533

Namco Bandai has released two new videos of Shin Gundam Musou gameplay including the Strike Gundam and Big Zam. The first video shows gameplay from the game’s Official Mode, which replicates stories from the titular Gundam series whereas the second video is from the Ultimate Mode that brings the series crossovers, similar to the more recent Gundam Musou games. One niggling aspect of the game are the rather poor character cut-ins when initiating a musou attack. It feels like it adds to the overall drop in visual quality in comparison to Gundam Musou 3. Anyway, check out the two videos below and judge for yourself.

Toys: YF-30 Chronos DX Chogokin Revealed

Whilst we’d seen early toy prototypes of the majestic YF-30 Chronos from the latter part of Macross 30, we weren’t sure if a release would materialise. Now it seems that a DX Chogokin is planned for display at the upcoming Tamashii Nations 2013 event this November, though no news yet of a final release date or price. The above picture is from the CAD render for the figure in case you’re wondering. Considering that the Isamu Dyson YF-29 DX Chogokin was a webshop exclusive, we’re pretty sure this will be too. The YF-30 is an exclusive design featured in the game and is more of a fighter bomber due to it’s longitudinal missile pod. It goes without saying that it’s also one of the best variable fighters you get to play with, so a toy version is most welcomed.

gb_update1

Now that the Vita version of Gundam Breaker is now out, there has been an update for the PS3 game. Apart from adding the new mobile suits from the Vita release there are all manner of other balancing changes. From boosts to weapons as well as mobility increases, the biggest change though is the increase of drop rates for parts (something that should help alleviate the grind). In addition to this, there will be 30 new missions along with 2 new mission types. There is even a new promo video and some rather comical adverts now too (linked below). Don’t forget you can still buy both the PS3 and Vita versions of the game.

Toys: Robot Damashii Skull Heart Revealed

In a recent issue of Gundam Ace, Bandai revealed that they are indeed making a Robot Damashii figure of the mighty XM-X1 (F97) Crossbone Gundam X-1 Kai Kai “Skull Heart”. This being the improved version of the original XM-X1 (F97) Crossbone Gundam X-1 Kai seen in the rather brilliant Crossbone Gundam manga. Whether this toy will also have the Full Cloth setup as seen in Steel 7 is unclear. Now these aren’t the first Robot Damashii figures from the series, as we nabbed all three at launch, but this will be a very nice addition. No word on release date or pricing and we’re hoping this isn’t another webshop exclusive too. Once we know more we’ll post it accordingly.

Finally, the date we have been waiting for has arrived. Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost for the PS3 will be released on 30th January next year. This is a lot sooner than most predicted but nonetheless is a welcome confirmation as the sooner, the better. Pricing for the two different versions of the game has also been announced with the normal edition being 7,890 yen and the Premium Sound edition being 10,980 yen (sadly the arcade stick will be sold separately online). Remember that there will also be a PSN version available day one for those who can’t wait for shipping. We will update you with more info as it comes.

On October 22nd, Gundam Epyon will join the current roster of Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost. Teased during the TGS 2013 show when promoting the upcoming PS3 version of the game, Gundam Epyon returns from its last appearance in Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus. Obviously boasting its melee attack style, its patented heat whip and mobile armor mode are all intact in this new iteration. This will be a nice addition to the current roster which can always use more melee mobile suits. Check out the teaser vid for Epyon below!
