News: Armored Core V Top of the Japanese Charts

Well, the sales figures for Armored Core V’s first week in Japan are out. For the PS3 version, the game shipped a respectable 163,906 units placing it at the top of the Japanese charts and the 360 variant pulled in a more meager 24,719 and landed 6th in the charts. To put these figures into perspective the Japanese PS3 versions for Armored Core 4 and Armored Core For Answer only sold around 90,000 and 100,000 units in their first year of sale. Likewise the Japanese 360 versions also sold approximately 30,000 to 70,000 units respectively in the same time period. So from a Japanese standpoint this first set of sales figures is incredibly good, especially as it’s been less than a week since the game’s release. Talking of release, on a more personal note our order (which includes both versions) has been delayed somewhat, this means our review will be similarly later than usual. Unfortunately, these things happen occasionally. In any case, these sales figures are awesome news for the Armored Core series.

When is it supposed to be released in the US?

March 20th is the current release date i believe.

INB4 200k units in the first week in the US. Way to show them that we do, in fact, enjoy their games overseas. Reminds me of a time when Japanese games developers were hesitant to market their product over here because they didn’t think we’d be interested in any of it. L M F A O.

Take your time please with the review. Though I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been hearing horror stories on /m/ about the game and I hope they aren’t true.

Thanks and we definitely won’t rush a review, not now or ever in fact. Definitely looking forward to playing the final game though.

Grabbed my import, I can say I’m enjoying it so far, but i’m still curious as to what reviews have to say about it.

Does anybody know if the Japanese X360 version is region-locked or not? Play Asia still don’t list anyting on the site and I don’t really want to wait for the PAL release.

Am also thinking that there’s going to be a big X360 AC5 contingent since VOOT was such a big success there, plus being in Australia the timezones also match with evening play in Japan.

Cheers,

Once I get my 360 copy I’ll be sure to check for you.

Armored Core is just so awesome. I have always loved this game every since I was a kid and now it has totally went with the technology with its awesomeness.
