The upcoming Killzone 3 will be featuring an interesting new power armour of Helghast design. For those that played the last game, this shouldn’t be too surprising as the latter parts of the campaign also featured playable mecha too. What’s interesting, in the wider sense at least, is that Killzone 3 is another entry in an increasing list of upcoming games games that are folding in mecha based functionality into their make-up. From Gears of War 3 to the continued usage of Walkers in Red Faction Armageddon, not to mention Vanquish as well. It seems that the benefits of mecha are finally being explored and appreciated in the broader gaming context.

am I the only one getting fed up with space marines/gritty solider in video games? I dunno maybe I been playing games too long, the difference in these games is becoming very blured, this sounds like a cool feature though, cant hurt to have some mecha in games.
Yeah, it does seem like everyone is also finding the same change in formula through adding mecha. Which means the formula ultimately won’t feel any different.
A shame, really. Monolith might’ve been able to get a leg up on this market had they used the powered armor concept in FEAR for a game less focused on scares and more on warfare; they already had Shogo under their belt.
Yeah I still havent played any of the FEAR games, my friend told me their were mechs in there and I was like what? I thought that was a horror game lol.
Yeah they should have just out right done a sequel or remake of shogo with those ideas and more, they missed the boat on that one.
