Over at Play Asia, there are a bunch of lovely mecha games going at a discounted price. Some of them are also quite rare. Such as the Dreamcast Gundam Rise from the Ashes Premium Disc, this was originally sold directly to fans via a coupon from the original game and then only in Japan (if you’re curious about the full game, we’ve already reviewed it). You then have the even rarer Macross Eternal Love Song, a classic NCS strategy game on the PC Engine – so very much in the spirit of Langrisser in case you’re wondering. Finally, the more recent Emblem of Gundam and Super Robot Wars K on the Nintendo DS should also keep your strategy leanings satiated.

Are you sure about Eternal Love being a shooter? All I see is a SRPG.

I always get confused between Eternal Love Song and 2036, despite owning both. Made the correction to the post though.

2036 is a damn good shooter though!

I’m pretty sure that Love Song and 2036 both are significantly more common that the Premium disk. I’ve never even seen the premium disk.

$15 for Emblem of Gundam is pretty great though. Has anyone here actually made progress in that game? It sort of overwhelmed me…

I finished Emblem of Gundam near release, it was wonderfully involved. You should stick with it.

As for 2036 and Eternal Love Song, I found them much harder to track down (in Japan) than the Premium Disk. The latter was almost in every second hand games store I went into!
