News: Super Robot Wars Operation Extend Released Today

The first ever download only game in the series, Super Robot Wars Operation Extend, is released today. We’ve bought the combined pack, as the game will be released episodically, but currently only the first episode is available. What’s also slightly interesting is that there are a bunch of freemium like parts you can buy too. We’re not sure about this, as Gundam Breaker has something similar (of which a review of that will be forthcoming). Whilst this isn’t so much pay to win it does seem to be pay to make things easier. In any case, buying all the episodes at once gives you a Gundam unit piloted by Sergeant Frog as a nice little bonus. The next episode will be released on August 1st.

We now have some more details on Super Robot Wars Operation Extend, specifically that it will be released on July 18th and that you can buy all 8 episodes for 5,980 yen. If you decide to buy each episode separately, then the first will cost you 500 yen whereas the remaining installments will be priced at 1,000 yen (so it makes sense to buy them all at once really). The new promo also covers more about the back-end management system in the game too, with parts trading being a pretty cool thing to add. Apart from that we have all manner of sexy new battle animations to look at, including that of the game’s unique OG mecha and pilots. In any case, we’ll be absolutely buying this on its release and we really can’t wait for it either.

Following on from the previous promo for Masou Kishin III, we know have a similar brief entry. This time it features Fang Xan Vicias and his mecha Giorias. In addition to this, apparently the game will feature a cross save setup. Allowing Vita and PS3 owners of the gamer to exchange save data via a server. Admittedly, you’ll have to buy both versions of the game but it’s a nice little thing to do. Still no word on winkysoft and it’s looking like we’ll have to wait until the game is released this August before we’ll know for sure. Don’t forget you can pre-order it here.

Toys: Riobot Blodia Riot Announced

In an interesting move, Sentinel have announced one of the Blodia variants from Cyberbots to join their Riobot ranks. Specifically that of the Blodia Riot. Like the base unit, the torso is shared but the legs and arms are somewhat different. The latter being the most notable as it has a Rocket Arm. As with the other Riobot toys, this too will be fairly gimmick ridden as well as sporting a good amount of diecast too. However, all this comes at a price and at 16,590 yen it’s considerably more than the standard Blodias set for release this July. In any case, you can pre-order the Riot variant for its October release here.

We now have a nice long new promo for Gundam Breaker (shown below). It shows all manner of stuff, such as the ability for HG (1/144 scale) and MG (1/100 scale) kits to face off as well as the ability to kitbash the respective gunpla ranges together (resulting in mobile suits that look rather cute). The promo is also voiced by Kamille (Nobuo Tomita) and Haman (Yoshiko Sakakibara), which is pretty cool. The controls have also bee updated too, with the right stick able to cycle through locked on targets (flipping the stick up will target larger enemies). The game is released on June 27th and you can pre-order the PS3 version of the game here.

News: Masou Kishin III Pride of Justice Update

4Gamer has a nice big update on Masou Kishin III, showing off the main mecha and characters. The special Valsione from the anime series, that we covered previously, also gets more eye candy too. Still no word on whether winkysoft is handling this but we’re cautiously optimistic that they will be. The latter is a big deal, as they made all the previous Masou Kishin games and some of the best entries into the normal Super Robot Wars canon too. In that, the games they made were far more strategic than the more brute force approach seen in the recent games. Pride of Justice is still set for its August 22nd release and you can pre-order it here.

The beta for Gundam Breaker has passed half million downloads since its launch. That’s not at all shabby for basically a glorified demo. In addition, save data from the beta will also be carried over to the full game come its release on June 27th. Finally, those that buy the game at launch will get all manner of parts perks with the MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki (pictured above) being one of them. You can pre-order the PS3 version of the game here.

In the upcoming Masou Kishin III players will be given a special bonus code in the initial run of the game. This will give a different version of Valsione as seen in the Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector anime series. This is not to be confused with Valsione R, which is a different mecha entirely. However, this redesign from the anime will have different attacks and animations from the standard Valsione (so it’s not just a simple re-skin). As always, these kind of little bonuses appeal to us and we’ll be definitely nabbing the game come its August 22nd release.

Bandai Namco have announced the third entry into the Masou Kishin series with a new promo for Pride of Justice (shown below). The game will be released on both PS3 and Vita and seems to be using the same engine used on OG3. What’s unknown at this point is whether winkysoft will be developing this, as they’ve done all the prior Masou Kishin games (though this would be an obvious technical step-up for them). Whilst the engine is being reused due to the Masou Kishin character list a lot of this will be new animations and art for the game. In any case, both versions of the game are released on August 22nd for 7,480 yen (PS3) and 6,480 yen (Vita).

We now have the first promo for Super Robot Wars Operation Extend. It shows off the 3D and 2D battle animations nicely, with much of the 2D art indeed being for the characters. That said, some of the 3D animations have some 2D flourishes for good measure and whilst this is re-purposed from the GC line of games the art and animations are all pretty fancy. We’re actually looking forward to this know quite a bit.
