News: Senjou no Kizuna Rev 2.51 Update

The ever popular Gundam arcade game with a panoramic cockpit, Senjou no Kizuna, will be receiving yet another update soon (Rev 2.51 to be exact). Over at GameWatch they show some interesting shots of the game, especially as mecha from Gundam 0083 are making much more of a prominent appearance now. From the beefy YMS-16M Xamel to the sprightly RGM-79C Powered GM. Though the more curious additions, as shown on the official site, are that of the RGM-79FC Striker Custom (which despite appearances is actually a GM) and the MS-08TX/N Efreet Nacht from Gundam Senki 0081. Both these units seem to have a very clear melee focus too, so that should help mix things up with the addition of something like artillery focused Xamel for instance. In any case, it’s nice to see that the game is still being supported considering it is now five years old.

I sure hope that in the background these guys are working on a proper sequel for the game. These little updates just aren’t cutting it anymore to keep the fanbase going with me having seen top-tier players just gave out their ultra high level IC cards cause they were stopping. Aside from that i’ve already seen some arcades in Tokyo that I favor going having already ditched Senjou no Kizuna and/or re-located the machines to a different sister arcade especially in favor of using the space for Gundam vs Gundam Extreme which is raking up quite allot of yen a day I’d imagine by just how hard it is to get a seat at that.

Japanese game developers have a tendency to get “stuck” with their game mechanics and do tiny improvements over multiple game iterations *cough* armored core *cough*

Imagine if they kept on stacking the improvements made in AC? We’d have the in my opinion better heat mechanics of Nexus, with the weapon/limb breaking from Last raven for an overall more realistic experience.

With a new sequel game, they can just keep the current POD system; maybe upgrade the PC in it but no need for a huge re-invest in that, just re-vamp the entire goddamn game including the mechanics strap on some better graphics and your done.

I’ve always been upset that the panoramic cockpits are anachronistic with the era of mobile suits in the game, myself. I’d love to see a sequel set in, say, the first Neo Zeon invasion of Earth.

Why didn’t they add 7th Gundam?
