News: Another Century’s Episode R Announced

In the latest issue of Famitsu, From Software and Banpresto have announced another instalment into the successful Another Century’s Episode series; Another Century’s Episode R exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Now for those that played the last PS2 game, this new game might be a bit of a shock. As the name of that game had, well, the word “Final” in the title. Well, it seems that it was only final for the PS2 series at least as we now have a very new and very shiny ACE game on the way.

For those not versed in the ACE games, these are basically third person action interpretations of Super Robot Wars. As they utilise mecha from disparate series all in one game, however the main focus has mostly been that of real robots as supers would cause all sorts of problems. Admittedly, mecha like Shin Getter Robo have made the cut but their ability sets have been drastically limited. In any case, the full list of mecha series in ACER is as follows: Super Dimension Century Orguss, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Char’s Counterattack, Crossbone Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, Overman King Gainer, Full Metal Panic!, Code Geass, Genesis of Aquarion, Macross Zero, Macross Frontier and various Banpresto originals

Personally, we miss not having Dunbine and Layzner in the ACE line-up. Those were, what we like to think, as the good old days.

More Macross, now thats a winner!

Hell Yeah Ive recently started playing ACE1 and ACE3 was awesome my fav mech game by far, I will defently pick up a ps3 now with this and AC5 on the way, when is the release date? this year? cant wait to see more, Im surprised theirs no 00 or Unicorn in there? surely they must add those, something will have to fill my void of no G Gundam.

Glad a new one was coming out- I didn’t expect to see a next gen ACE game ever. Kinda sad about the limited number of series though. I’ll miss Brain Powerd and \-/Gundam most of all.

I can’t help but think the current line-up is a little Spartan. I’m probably just bitter after being spoiled with ACE3’s roster, though.

It’s weird how I’ve wanted an action game with Code Geass mecha, and now that I get it I’m unhappy with the idea. The ACE series is very much a game based around flight, which means the only viable Code Geass mecha that are going to make it in are the flight-capable ones, which I have to admit I didn’t care as much for as the Votoms- or Assault Suit-inspired mecha of Season 1.

Definitely happy with Orguss and Crossbone making it in, because those aren’t represented in games all that frequently, and I like the mecha design of Macross Zero as well.

Full Metal Panic! in ACER? Did that franchise even have mechs with true, independent flight? Since Code Geass and FMP! are in it, maybe ACER will have slightly more focus on ground fights.

Aquarion! OH BOY!

I do hope by listing only Solar Aquarion, it just means that the only one they’ve revealed. It just wouldn’t be the same without it’s gattai’s.

I haven’t played any of the ACE games but when I look at gameplay videos, they never look engaging enough. It looked like Musou lethargic enemies but with vast amounts of space between them.

Oh my god… I have all 3 of the previous ACE games, when does this come out? This looks more than AMAZING!!

gaaah no g gundam?! i love playing as domon in those games!
