In addition to a lovely JAM Project concert at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, 2nd Super Robot Wars OG also received a new promo that was also displayed at the show. Showing more units and their animations, it’s looking very lovely. The use of the camera pans and elements of perspective are still suitably impressive. You can pre-order the game here.

As you’d expect the PS3 version of Gundam Extreme Versus has been shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, with a nice promo movie to accompany it. Not only explaining the game’s core mechanics as well as the swanky online battle setup. We’ve included the promo below as well as some on the floor shaky cam footage, just to help with the immersion. December can’t come soon enough!

In a recent Sony conference a whole bunch of PS Vita related news was announced. From the fact the hardware will be released, in Japan, on December 17th this year and that it will have a lot of games at launch too. Among these will be a Zone of Enders HD game, likely a re-make though not much is known yet. Naturally, both Super Robot Wars and Gundam were also cited as series that would get the PS Vita treatment. Considering the similarity between the PS Vita and the PS3, we may even end up getting a portable version of Gundam Extreme Versus. The only downside to all this news is that the battery life is, well, crap. Coming in between 3-5 hours playtime. Oh well.

In a truly momentous move, the first three Mobile Suit Gundam movies have been uploaded to YouTube, with English subtitles too no less. These three movies, which should really be viewed in one sitting, act as the foundation for the main UC timeline and more importantly cemented the success of the saga in Japan over 30 years ago. If we’re honest, these films are genuinely special and unique in the world of anime. Whilst the animation is pretty dated, the characterisation and narrative are timeless. If you haven’t seen these movies before then you really have no excuse not to now. All three are linked below.

In a very rare move, the lovely people at From Software have done a video touring the studio. With Eiichi Nakajima as our host, he does a whistle stop tour of the office and quickly introduces us to various people around the studio whilst giving an overall take on why they enjoy developing different games from what has gone before. The likes of Toshifumi Nabeshima (pictured above), basically the father of Armored Core, also make a brief appearance. The video is linked below and it’s also subtitled in English, in case you were wondering.

Following the story trailer, we now have a new Hawken gameplay trailer. It looks lovely but the more we’re seeing of this game, the more it looks functionally a bit dated. It’s hard to say until we actually get our hands on the game but what we’re seeing looks like just another mecha themed FPS. Well, at least it will be pretty!

What with the indie mecha game Hawken getting its film rights optioned, it seems that the multiplayer only game will also have something in the way of a story. The trailer below sets up the premise that the full on mecha combat is the result of an over industrialised colony world pushed to the brink of environmental collapse. All we do know is that it’s still preposterously pretty and that we are very curious to see how it actually plays. Eye candy is one thing but there’s a suspicious lack of hands on previews, considering that the game was announced a while ago now. We’re still cautiously optimistic though and at the very least it will look gorgeous.

In an update for Gundam Extreme Versus, scheduled for today no less, a classic Zeta Gundam mobile armor will be added to the ranks of the game. Specifically, the PMX-000 Messala piloted by the wonderfully evil Paptimus Scirocco. Whilst being one of our favourite Kazumi Fujita designs, next to the Tyrant Sword, what’s most misleading about this mobile armor is that at first glance it appears to be a mobile suit. It’s only when you see the scale of it (close to 30 metres) that you realise that this puppy is rather large. In addition, you can also call for assistance in the game which manifests itself in the form of a few RX-110 Gabthley units. The full size Gundam has gone back to Odaiba, where it was based originally, but has done so in parts. Whilst we visited it in Shizuoka, this new exhibit allows you to see all the parts up close (rather than 18 metres above you). In addition, a nice chap managed to do a new time lapse video of the new setup and we’ve linked it below.

What with Gamescom under way, Armored Core V has received a new trailer to show off its online setup. Whilst the voice over is a bit stiff, it conveys the premise of the game well.
