Bandai have announced something I thought I’d never see, a Robot Damashii toy of the wing caliber Fou from Dunbine. This was a support unit that could allow aura battlers to fly greater distances as well as increase their firepower. It also seem this toy will also come with to scale figures as well as a Shoot too. As you’d expect this is a web shop exclusive, with the pre-orders starting today for a release in November. It’s also not exactly cheap either, coming in at 12,600 yen. That said all the previous Robot Damashii Dunbine toys have been nothing short of fantastic so we’ll be picking this up too.
Videos: Armored Core Verdict Day Third Livestream and New Death Animation

The third livestream for Armored Core Verdict Day has been archived and we’ve linked it below. As you’d expect, a lot more was shown and discussed about the new UNAC AI system and it’s looking quite comprehensive. In addition, the game will also come with a new death animation for all ACs (with them tumbling to their respective dooms). This is somewhat reminiscent to the more ostentatious deaths seen in Last Raven. This new death animation was compiled into a new YouTube video, accompanied by suitably Shaft-tastic music, and we’ve included this below too. If we’re honest, the new rolling death looks a bit odd but maybe this is due to the camera angles they’ve chosen.

We have had a brief but cool promo released for Masou Kishin III, showing Remia off in her Termium Buster. The game is obviously looking lovely but we still don’t know whether winkysoft is behind this. Pride of Justice is still also set for its August 22nd release and you can pre-order it here.

Following on from their VF-1J re-release it seems we’ll be getting a YF-19 toy in 2014. Now it’s not clear whether this will be a re-release of this. What we do know is that it will come with FAST packs, which were originally sold separately on Yamato’s version (though it was packaged together in a later release). Personally, we’re hoping the updated engineering seen on the Macross 7 era VF-19 toys will make it over to this new Arcadia release. The fact that the toy will be available next year also helps to indicate that as well. In other Macross Plus news, the awesome Japanese BluRay boxset (with English subtitles and dub) is now out in the wild. So pick that up whilst you can!
Courtesy of our good friends at HobbyLink Japan we’ve been sent the Riobot Tsugumori from the epic manga Knights of Sidonia (though this is an anime on the way). This is the latest work from the renowned Tsutomu Nihei. As this is a slight departure from our usual toy reviews, as this mecha has yet to be featured in a game, there is no footage as to show the mecha in action.
News: Strike Vector Announced

A small team of indie developers have crafted something pretty damn cool via the Unreal engine. Called Strike Vector, it utilises semi-transforming craft in a multiplayer dog-fighting environment. So mixing straight flight and lateral movement (basically a plane crossed with a helicopter – something that’s quite commonplace with the mecha in shows like Macross for instance). No word on a release date or platform, though with the latter it’s likely developed on PC so it’s safe to assume we’ll see the game released there too. We like the mecha design a lot as well and the new in-game trailer (shown below) looks great.

News: Titanfall Announced

Whilst it was leaked recently that Respawn Entertainment were working on a mecha themed FPS, it has now been officially announced. Called Titanfall, it’s a sci-fi FPS set on what appears to be a far off future colony world. On foot combat seems to have parkour and quick boosting elements (so quite interesting) but the mecha look like something else entirely (as shown above). Whilst we did berate Front Mission Evolve’s idiotic standardisation between human and mecha handling, it’s not entirely clear if that’s the case here. That aside, the mecha designs have some nice nods to Yutaka Izubuchi’s and Kow Yokoyama’s work though, which we entirely approve of. Whilst this was premiered along with the Xbox One, apparently there will be a 360 and PC release too. The announcement trailer is linked below.
Oh, and to our readers from Respawn (of which there are a few), “hi!”.

News: Armored Core Verdict Day Singleplayer Update

Over at 4Gamer there’s an interesting update for Armored Core Verdict Day. On the one hand it shows the new and nicely shiny boxart but also covers the game’s singleplayer component. Specifically, we have a fleshed out Story Mode that has you play single player narrative focused missions. The purpose is to clear all 60 missions and reach the plot’s conclusion. This is slightly different from the handful of story missions in the previous game followed by the the Order filler missions. This seems to be far more substantial in terms of content. Two player coop play is also possible for all missions and a UNAC or a mercenary can be selected as a partner. Once the story is cleared another mode, Hardcore Mode, will appear. This mode changes a number of things, such as clearing the story with higher difficulty conditions, from limitations on your AC to increased damage taken. There are a total of 10 different modes with a variety of conditions in Hardcore Mode. Beating Hardcore Mode will also result in your details being listed on online rankings. In addition, you can create a single player team and battle with UNAC (AI) AC as the team members. Not to mention that it is also possible to send only the UNAC units and participate in the battle as an operator. The mercenary setup is also very much still present and whilst you’ll lack voice communication you can still participate in the story mode missions just fine. Finally it seems the western release of the game will also get the same collector’s edition, which is pretty cool.

We now have a nice long new promo for Gundam Breaker (shown below). It shows all manner of stuff, such as the ability for HG (1/144 scale) and MG (1/100 scale) kits to face off as well as the ability to kitbash the respective gunpla ranges together (resulting in mobile suits that look rather cute). The promo is also voiced by Kamille (Nobuo Tomita) and Haman (Yoshiko Sakakibara), which is pretty cool. The controls have also bee updated too, with the right stick able to cycle through locked on targets (flipping the stick up will target larger enemies). The game is released on June 27th and you can pre-order the PS3 version of the game here.

Toys: Riobot Jehuty Release Details

Sentinel have finally revealed their upcoming Riobot Jehuty figure in all its glory. It’s considerably larger and more detailed than the previous Revoltechs, so this obviously comes with a larger price tag (of 13,500 yen) and will be released in September of this year. That said, this figure will come with a good amount of diecast too apparently so that’s good to know at least. You can pre-order yours here.
