As announced at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, SD Gundam Generation 3D is still on track for its December 22nd release date. The official site has also been kept up to date, with the new “Archive” section showing off the roster of series the game will feature. Of note are the addition of the upcoming Gundam AGE and Gunpla Builders. Much like the Super Robot Wars games, this series is unsurprisingly solely focused on Gundam. In all honesty, we’re not overly fond of the SD Gundam games but this does look suitably nice and since playing through Gundam The 3D Battle we have a hankering for some more 3D Gundam gaming.

I’ll admit, I love these games. They’re like a more repetitive version of SRW, but with much more flexibility. Shame it’s not region-free though, the 3DS will need a LOT of good Japan-only titles for me to consider importing one that can play them.

And I wish they’d go back the original arcade/strategy style they used on the SNES.

I liked the pacing of Winner’s History (on the Gamegear) the most. That with a story like the Gather Beat games on Wonderswan mixed with the Generation games’ flexibility would be a masterpiece.

IMHO SD G Gen > SRW

Just that much more content, flexibility and more Gundams.
