A new trailer for the upcoming Lost Planet 2 was release a few days ago, so if you missed it we’ve linked it below. The wonderful vital suits are shown but in a somewhat limited capacity unfortunately, normally on account of the showboating giant Akrid. That aside, like the demo confirms, this could be just bloody amazing. The game is released on May 18th and don’t forget to pre-order either the 360 and PS3 versions!

It looks good, but I still wonder if the game has any kind of story or is bascially monster hunter with mechas, time will tell.

Also am I the only one thinking of Final Wars when watching the trailer? you know the super powered humans that fight the monsters, the only thing missing from that movie was mecha’s but if their was to be a game of that movie this would be it.

I can’t say anything about the second one obviously, but the first Lost Planet, while a bit light on plot, did attempt to give out a lot of background about the history of human settlement on the planet, and the various factions fighting for control of the world and/or human survival in a hostile environment populated by even more hostile alien creatures.

While Monster Hunter was obviously something they were looking to for inspiration, from the trailers we’ve seen and the demo we’ve been able to play, it’s probably a good bet that there’s story scenes to explain the large climate changes since the first game and update us about the new developments in technology since then.
