A few places are reporting the upcoming release of a PC only 2D shooter in the same vein as Masaya’s much loved Assault Suits games. Called Gunhound, it basically ticks many of the boxes in terms of a spiritual sequel to something like Leynos II on the Saturn. The game will be released on the 18th December either online (for 4800 yen) or on disc (for 6090 yen).

I’m going to say the game looks a lot better in motion than the screenshot seems to imply. Watching the linked video is definitely recommended.

The backgrounds give off what I’d call a distinctly bleak Votoms feels to them, which I’d appreciate even if this game didn’t already look amazing. Any game that cribs from Votoms’ Kummen arc is okay in my book.

Tollmaster:

Agreed. I saw the VOTOMS references, too, and got all giddy. Looks good!

It’s ok, but no where close to Metal Warriors awesome! :P
