The official Armored Core 5 site has been updated with a trailer for the game. The more observant of you will notice that this trailer was already shown when the game was announced a few weeks ago. However, this version lacks the shaky hand cam issues and as such you can see the new Over Weapon transformation a lot more clearly. In any case, no word on a release date as yet but it will be gracing both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 upon its inevitable release. You may also want to keep an eye on From Software’s YouTube Channel too, if you’re already Armored Core inclined.

If they’re going with the Metal Wolf Chaos-style weapon switching system, I can imagine that the guy in charge of making sure every weapon works with every possible combination of mecha parts is having the world’s biggest headache right about now, if the robots in the game work like they do in this footage. Everything is transforming, linking together, turning, it’s all very dynamic for a robot-building system that formerly depended on static polygons which all connected in the same places before.

Nah, I doubt it’ll be too much different, really.
From Software makes fun games, but they aren’t terribly creative or innovative.

For example, White Glint seemed to shift, and change quite a lot and significantly in the cut-scene. But in game it didn’t work any differently than any other AC.

Not really sure about that, Armored Core is unique intellectual property that was birthed by From Software after all. As for White Glint in the opening FMV of For Answer, almost all the functionality displayed was recreated in game.

Ah, but the White Glint itself had some restrictions on the parts it could equip, I believe–perhaps the price of that (admittedly amazing) transformation system.

Except those same extension restrictions made it into game. All the transformation stuff was part of the VOB sequence too.

The only thing shown in the FMV that White Glint can’t do in game is the take specific limb damage (as the movie shows it losing an arm). That functionality was dropped after Last Raven.
