Over at Hideo Kojima’s Twitter feed he previewed a shot of a Revoltech Vic Viper from Anubis. For one it looks lovely and it will be at least affordable. Talking of other Revoltech’s, Naked Jehuty is now out too and our review will be forthcoming. If you can’t wait for the Vic Viper Revoltech they you can still buy the Kotobukiya kit, in addition a RIOBOT toy is also planned.

As the new Super Robot Chogokin Gurren Lagann hits the shelves in Japan, Bandai have announced a limited edition Anti Gurren Lagann to be released in June for 6,000 yen. This was a special boss unit that appeared towards the end of Saisei-hen (shown in a video below), so this is yet again another unique progeny from the Super Robot Wars saga (much like our beloved Final Dancouga). Whilst this does indeed look lovely, it will only be available for purchase in Japan through Bandai’s premium online store.

Videos: Battle Robot Damashii Promo and Opening Movie

In two new videos and an interview, all manner of new things have been revealed regarding the upcoming Battle Robot Damashii. The first point of note is that Artdink are handling the game’s development, this is a good thing and does sort of mark them as the go to mecha tie-in studio to go to after From Software dropped the ball with Another Century’s Episode R. The second point is that the game will feature Ideon as a playable unit. This is quite simply fucking mental. It’s also interesting to point out that whilst the name of the game cites the Robot Damashii toyline, the game will in fact feature other toylines too (as Ideon only has a Soul of Chogokin to speak of in modern toy terms). Finally, you’ll also see a familiar sight from Armored Core V in the videos below. This very much warmed our heart. There’s also a lot of Dunbine and L-Gaim love going on here as well, that’s something we’re obviously happy to see.

Videos: Gundam Breaker Customisation

In a tantalisingly short video (shown below), Bamco have shown off the much talked about kit bashing customisation element in Gundam Breaker. In a funny sort of way it’s somewhat similar to classic Armored Core in a way and this is no bad thing. In addition to the video below there have been some nice updates at both 4Gamer and Famitsu. The important thing to note is that the Vita version is still being advertised again.

News: Senjou no Kizuna Rev 3.15 Update

As of tomorrow Rev 3.15 will be rolled out for Senjou no Kizuna, the newtorked Gundam game with the amazing cockpit setup. The notable additions to this revision, bar balancing tweaks, are two new mobile suits; the RX-78-5 Gundam Unit 5 and MS-09RII Rick Dom II. The former was featured nearly 10 years ago in Meguriai Sora (or Encounters in Space) on the PS2 as part of sidestory campaign. Seeing it here again is a welcome sight. It was based on the 5th Gundam from M-MSV. It’s still impressive to see Senjou no Kizuna keep on getting this kind of support, as the hardware it uses is awfully dated now.

If we’re honest, when we saw the sample limited edition boxart for the forthcoming Macross 30 weren’t exactly all that impressed. However, we now have the official box art (shown above) as penned by Hidetaka Tenjin. It looks really rather lovely and if it weren’t for the godawful limited edition skins, we’d probably buy this version just for the boxart. The game is still on track for its February 28th release and you can pre-order the limited edition boxset here

Toys: Revoltech Ardjet Release Announced

In a nice move of not making yet another Jehuty toy, Kaiyodo have followed up with a toy of the orbital frame Ardjet this March. As with all Revoltechs, Ardjet looks to have decent articulation and won’t cost the earth. Whilst this feels like extended marketing for the ZOE HD Collection, it’s nice to see one of the lesser orbital frames from Anubis get the toy treatment. You can pre-order Ardjet here.

There are two new promos for the soon to be released Gunhound EX over at 4Gamer. This being the PSP update to the PC sidescrolling shooter co-developed by G.Rev and Dracue. Whilst the game was meant to be released late last year, it was delayed to fix a critical bug. The new promos show more gameplay as well that of the soundtrack, the latter being noteworthy as it was penned by the lovely (and very talented) Kinuyo Yamashita. You can pre-order the standard (boxed) game here, though this will also be made available on Japanese PSN when it’s released too.

There’s a quick update over at Famitsu for the upcoming Super Robot Wars UX. Featuring Mazinkaiser SKL (pictured above) as well as Tobikage, the game does look pretty dated compared to the recent PSP offerings. We’ll still be getting this obviously, along with the limited edition 3DS too most likely, but we do feel that Banpresto are milking the GBA/DS tech and assets a bit far here.

Toys: Variable Action Hi-Spec RahXephon Announced

The rather fascinating RahXephon is getting, what looks to be, a lovely rendition in toy form. Released this May for 12,600 yen, the price is a little on the high side. That said, the previous Variable Action Hi-Spec entries have had substantial price drops shortly after release. RahXephon was an interesting series though, conceived and directed by veteran mecha design Yutaka Izubuchi it had a wonderful aesthetic and premise. Though the latter was very much inspired by the original Raideen, which also had a similar titular mecha something that Super Robot Wars MX and Scramble Commander the 2nd emphasized with both Raideen and RahXephon bro-fisting their way to victory. Talking of games, the less said about the PS2 game the better really. Anyway, this looks to be a great toy of a really great design so on that front we’re happy at least.
